Travel Vaccinations

Please check for advice during the Covid-19 epidemic.

global air travel

Travel advice and a number of immunisations are not funded by the NHS. We are no longer able to provide a comprehensive Travel Service to our patients. Very general advice and some limited vaccinations will continue to be provided as part of NHS services and will not incur any charge.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible  - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations.  These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine.  Your second appointment needs to be at least 3 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work. Please do not request an emergency appointment for your vaccination.

Free of charge - Administration of NHS immunisations - polio, tetanus, diphtheria, typhoid, hepatitis A. (Available on NHS prescription)

Private Prescription: £15 per prescription -for malaria prophylaxis or other medications needed in anticipation

Please be aware that we do not undertake some additional travel immunisations (e.g. Yellow Fever & Rabies) which, if required you will have to get from another travel clinic which will cost you.

Before booking into our clinic, please consider using an alternative service which can provide ALL vaccination types if you are unsure.

Please look up a website for information:

Mamta Travel Health

Obtain a printed copy of travel health requirements for each country to be visited by one of the following dedicated websites. It is your responsibility to get the right information.

Hand in your completed questionnaire form and travel advice pack from your chosen website to reception and the practice nurse will assess your travel needs and the surgery will contact you to advise you if we are able to offer these.

Please note it is advisable to make an inquiry at least 6-8 weeks before traveling as you may be directed on to a private travel clinic. Last minute travel within 2 weeks will be redirected to a private travel clinic.

There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
