This is a concession reserved for patients who are genuinely too ill, palliative or housebound to visit the surgery and based on clinical need and at the discretion of the doctor. It is not your right to demand a visit.
If you do need a home visit please let us know before 11:00, stating clearly the name, age, address and telephone number of the patient or carer and the nature of the problem. Please answer the questions asked by our receptionists. It helps us triage your requests and offer you the right advice. One of the GPs may call you to discuss the reason for your request and might offer a mutually convenient appointment at the surgery or give advice over the phone.
Lack of transportation is not a reason to request a visit.
Most people are able to travel a short distance to the surgery in a car without any adverse effects on their health.
Please Do Not "give it till lunchtime" or evening before deciding.
You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You might also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby.
