Appointments

Routine Appointments

Many queries don't need you to speak to a GP. Please use this link which will help you.

Appointments can be made by:

  • Contacting us online here
  • Booking an appointment via Patient Access via the link at the top of this page
  • Calling the practice on 01902 883346

We ask patients to show consideration to each other, as well as ourselves, by using appointments for their proper purposes only. Please do not book appointments for anything that can be arranged by telephone. Do not use them for repeat prescriptions or to ask for test results.

Please note that our appointment system changed during the pandemic to protect everyone. We are still open and consulting. Face to face appointments are only made if clinically appropriate as triaged by the clinicians.

Covid and flu Vaccination Clinic

We have covid and flu jabs now in stock, please contact us by phone or book online if you are aged 65 or over or in an eligible category if under 65.

To be able to book for a covid vaccination clinic, please use:

Patient Access

Or NHS app

Or use the link you got in your text. There are plenty of appointments available over the next two weeks.

It’s much easier than waiting for a telephone call.

Health Checks

Any patients aged 16 –74 years who have not had a consultation within the last three years may request a consultation.

Patients 75 years and over who have not had a consultation within the last twelve months may request a health check with one of our practice team. If you are unable to attend the surgery, a home visit could be arranged.

Urgent Appointments

If you require an urgent appointment please call the practice on 01902 883346 at 8.30am.

Please do not request emergency appointments for conditions that are not emergencies.

Patients with genuinely serious needs are put at a disadvantage when others book emergency appointments for trivial matters.

Blood Pressure Checks and Vaccinations

Please do not book appointments with doctors for blood pressure checks. These need to be booked with the nurse or healthcare assistants.

Vaccinations:

These are booked with a nurse

Blood tests

We regret we are not currently in a position to perform routine blood tests. You can book for a test by calling Ladies walk on 01902 575957, Guest Hospital on 01384 244330, Merry Hill 01384 365155 or online at https://www.dgft.nhs.uk/patients-visitors/blood-tests/

GP Extended Hours

We are offering additional appointments. These appointments are pre-bookable and in advance only. The times of these are Monday evenings from 18:30 onwards.

The surgery door will not be open and patients who have already booked will have access to the building via the intercom situated on the left hand side of the main entrance door.

We aim to keep these appointments available for patients with work commitments or who find it difficult to attend during normal surgery hours.

Extended hours are available in our local area which gives you the opportunity to see a GP or a nurse out of our core hours. There will be appointments available at:

  • The Ridgeway Surgery
  • Northway Medical Practice
  • Woodsetton Medical Centre
  • Coseley Medical Centre
  • Lower Gornal Medical Practice
  • Castle Meadows Surgery

The appointments will rotate around these practices during the week.

The extended hours appointment times are Monday to Friday 6:30pm – 8:00pm, Saturday 9:00am -12:00pm and Sunday 9:00am – 11:00am.

To arrange an appointment call the surgery.

To cancel your extended hours appointment outside normal working hours, please phone 07597 974158. Please note, this phone number will only be used during extended hours for the sole purpose of cancelling extended hours appointments.

Home Visits

This is a concession reserved for patients who are genuinely too ill, palliative or housebound to visit the surgery and is based on clinical need and at the discretion of the doctor. It is not your right to demand a visit.

If you do need a home visit please let us know before 11:00am on 01902 883346, stating clearly the name, age, address and telephone number of the patient or carer and the nature of the problem. Please answer the questions asked by our receptionists. It helps us triage your requests and offer you the right advice.

Lack of transportation is not a reason to request a visit.

We are offering video consultations which may be sufficient for assessments at times. You or your carer or next of kin will need a telephone with camera for this purpose.

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You might be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby.

Appointment Etiquette

One appointment means one patient only. Do not bring other family members and ask them to be seen at the same time. This is inconsiderate for patients who are waiting to be seen after you, who will be kept waiting. If you are a carer who genuinely needs to discuss another patient, book the appointment in their name so we have the right notes to hand. Please do not use the same appointment for yourself as well.

Please do not book follow up appointments unless you have been asked to do so.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

You can cancel your appointment by contacting us online here. If you are unable to attend or no longer require an appointment, please let us know so we can offer the appointment to someone else. To cancel or change an appointment, you can all us on 01902 883346.

You can also text to cancel your appointment.

If you are delayed, please attend and we will try and fit you into the next available un-booked appointment. If there are none we will advise you to re-book. Please do not telephone to “catch the doctor” during surgery times. Just a few of these can put a surgery several appointments behind.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • If there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • If you need an interpreter
  • If you have any other access or communication needs

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
